Curtain for Four-Week Festival to Rise on July 27th with Gala Evening
North Eastham, Massachusetts, July 9, 2014— In less than three weeks, on Sunday, July 27th, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival will open its banner 35th anniversary season, with a Gala evening at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, in South Yarmouth, and then continue for four weeks, with a dozen additional concerts at six dispersed venues.
“We are delighted to be kicking off this milestone season with a festive, music-filled evening – including the world premiere of a special dedicated work – and then moving forward with the presentation of an array of musically rich programs to audiences from Provincetown to Cotuit,” said Jon Nakamatsu and Jon Manasse, as they approach their eighth season as artistic directors.
“The programs,” they continued, “will be performed by exceptional artists comprised of both Festival newcomers and an unusual number of popular returnees. Among notable newcomers will be the preeminent Emerson String Quartet and the Boston Cello Quartet, composed of four members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s renowned cello section. Among the many Festival-favorite returnees will be the Cypress, Escher, and Borromeo String Quarters, plus such individual performers as cellists Amit Peled, Yeesun Kim, Laurence Lesser, and Julian Schwarz; violinists Martin Beaver, Stephanie Chase, and Nicholas Kitchen; flutist Carol Wincenc; and pianist Noreen Polera.
The concerts will be performed in seven different venues – from Provincetown to Cotuit, including the new venue in Orleans – to assure maximum accessibility to audiences throughout Cape Cod:
